My modification of the London Beanie pattern.
Fits 22 1/2" head (and larger) and comes down over ears.
Approx 110 m aran/worsted weight yarn. (I used Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran)
US 7 16" circular and dpns. 5 sts = 1" in stst worked in round
Cable CO 80 stitches, join and work k1 p1 rib for 10 rounds.
Row 11: k8, inc 1 around (90 stitches)
Work even in stst until hat measures 6".
Dec round 1: k7, k2tog around
Dec round 2 (and all even rounds): Work 1 round even.
Dec round 3: k6, k2tog around
Dec round 5: k5, k2 tog around.
(Notice you are out of yarn. Curse Debbie Bliss for only putting 90m in a ball. Join new ball you were planning on returning.)
Dec round 7: k4, k2tog around
Dec round 9: k3, k2tog around
Dec round 11: k2tog around
Dec round 13: k2tog around
Leave long tail, break yarn and thread through remaining stitches, pull tight. Weave in ends, yada yada.
Enjoy hat that actually fits Big Irish Head! :)
